Images of dark matter distribution in a supercluster

We have covered advances in the understanding and observation of dark matter many time before, both in the Ars news section and Nobel Intent. At the recent meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Austin, Texas, researchers from the Universities of British Columbia and Nottingham presented compelling new observations of indirect evidence of dark matter. Their work is scheduled to be published in an upcoming edition of the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

The current mainstream thinking in the astrophysical community is that dark matter forms a sort of web that houses galaxies. Last week's edition of Science was a special issue devoted to this unseen cosmic web. It is believed that as the universe evolves, the gravitational attraction of dark matter causes galaxies to spin and collide, forming superclusters.

Interview with Dr. Hank Liers Part 5: Superior nutrition for pet ...

The following is part five of an interview between Mike Adams and Dr. Hand Liers, the chief formulator of products sold by Health Products Distributors, Inc. (HPDI) (www.IntegratedHealth.com). To see all parts of this interview, search this site for "Dr. Hank Liers."

Dr. Liers: I feel our animals in the world we live in are in the same situation as the people: Overburdened with chemical contamination through food and personal care products. We are doing the same [to our pets]. If we give ourselves junk, then our pets get even worse stuff. They get the toxins that we will not eat. You are actually seeing in animals the exact same illnesses as in human beings. You see arthritis, diabetes, allergies, cancer, and heart disease.

Mike: It is accelerating rapidly in animals.

Why We Resist

Charney Research spoke to 1,377 people in October and November in all 34 provinces for the BBC, ABC and ARD.

This is the third such survey, and is published to coincide with the sixth anniversary of the fall of the Taleban.

Overall, the figures indicate that the peaceful north of Afghanistan is significantly more satisfied than the troubled south. Most dissatisfaction is found in the south-west, where the Taleban are most active.

The poll suggests that despite another year of conflict, confidence and hope have been dented only a little in the past 12 months.

MAIN EVERYDAY COMPLAINTS Jobs - 73% Clean water - 46% Electricity - 84% Food - 33% Schools - 29%

The figures indicate that 54% of Afghans think things are going in the right direction, one percentage point fewer than last year, while 70% described their living conditions as good or very good.

Israel and Palestinians open talks

The first final-status talks since 2001 were supposed to begin soon after November's Annapolis conference. But the Palestinians demanded Israel first commit to ceasing all settlement activity, as stipulated by a 2003 peace "road map".

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas immediately came under new domestic pressure to insist Israel halt settlements.
