Supreme Court spanks lawyer for TV's 'Judge Alex'

Chamber of Commerce and other business interests agree, and filed legal briefs backing Preston. Businesses typically prefer arbitration, with the conservative Pacific Legal Foundation, based in Sacramento, Calif., arguing that arbitration is "cheaper and more efficient" than what critics fear would be endless legal reviews.

The Screen Actors Guild and other groups that represent performers respond that the state law establishing an initial contract review by the California Labor Commissioner makes sense for the entertainment industry.

"It is critical to protecting vulnerable individuals in an environment where aspirants will do almost anything to `make it big,'" the Screen Actors Guild declared in a legal brief.

In Ferrer's case, Preston helped set up a meeting with several television executives and producers.

Canada Serial Murder Trial Hears of Other Suspects

Prosecutors trying accused serial killer Robert "Willie" Pickton ignored other possible suspects for the murders, including one of his female friends, his lawyers charged on Wednesday.

Pickton's defense team, in the third day of closing arguments, told the jury not to ignore forensic evidence that linked Dinah Taylor to Pickton's suburban Vancouver farm where he is accused of brutally killing 26 women.

"Is the focus of this picture really put where it should be?" lawyer Adrian Brooks asked the jury, illustrating his presentation with slides that showed Taylor's face and evidence collected on the farm, such as clothing that had her DNA.

The defense did not accuse Taylor of the killings.

Taylor was a friend of Pickton's who was arrested early in the investigation but never charged because police said there was no evidence that she was criminally involved.

Baby Grace's dad says mom loved toddler

The girl's mother, Kimberly Dawn Trenor, and stepfather, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, were arrested Saturday and charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence. According to court documents, Trenor, 19, told police she and her husband killed the girl in July and hid her body in a shed before dumping it in Galveston Bay.

While DNA tests are pending, authorities say they are fairly confident the girl nicknamed "Baby Grace" after washing ashore last month is that of Riley Ann Sawyers. Riley's father, Robert Sawyers, said Trenor loved their daughter.

"No, I never thought she could do anything like this," Sawyers said in an interview broadcast Thursday on NBC's "Today" show.

"I mean, she loved Riley. ... You can't not love that little girl the first time you see her, you know.

2007 Saturn Vue Green Line Review: Lame Duck Greenie

Remember when Saturn offered buyers a different kind car because it was a different kind of car company? While a brilliant advertising campaign, it used to be true. Saturns had their own chassis, polymer body panels, engines, manufacturing plants, dealerships … the works. If you haven't been paying attention (and millions haven't) Saturn is now just another division of General Motors. This may not be a bad thing. The old L-Series were forgettable, Ions were lamentable, and their Relay minivans don't even warrant a pejorative adjective.

Saturn's soon-to-be current line up looks much better. The Aura sedan is terrific. The Sky is an o-so-fine roadster. And the new Outlook crossover is available just as people are awakening to the stupidity of using big SUVs for minivan tasks.

Stop lecturing us, India tells rich nations

At its most basic level, del.icio.us allows users to save their bookmarks online. Del.icio.us also gives users the ability to "tag" their bookmarks with descriptive category names. For example, someone who has bookmarked multiple Web pages that deal with the Washington Nationals baseball team could tag those links with any terms they want, like "baseball," "nationals," "natsfan," etc.

As members of a "social bookmarking" community, del.icio.us sers can also see how many other people have bookmarked the same pages, and they can look at those users' bookmark collections to find other interesting online content.

Globalists attempting to depopulate the world

Q: The U.S. is using DU weapons in violation of international treaties. Why is the international community not forcing the U.S. to stop the use and production of such weaponry?

A: I've asked that question many times myself. With the demonstrated total and complete failure of international judicial remedies -- by the International Criminal Court and the world court -- to enforce the 1925 Geneva poison gas protocol, the Geneva and Hague conventions, international agreements and other treaties, and the failure of depleted uranium weapons to meet the standards (in four out of four categories) of legality under international law, it is clear that the international judicial system is morally and procedurally bankrupt. In other words, international laws and treaties are meaningless and/or selectively enforced.
